Week 11: Reflection

Reflect on where you are currently in the process of finishing your first three chapters.    I am still cleaning  up my methods I just  have an overview for no and  need to make sure that the research   goals  are being met by what I  have in place. I want to make sure that my sample size and  timing is clearly defined and I think  I can do that better once the academic calendar is in place  for next year and  I have contacted other colleagues  in different   districts  about possible patriating  in the survey.  Consider whether you are done with portfolio and if not, what plans you  have to  complete it and schedule your defense.   I am working to get a paper in a national or international journal so far I only have two for the a Texas journal. I need to take some time and expand on my 2 page essay on my career and educational journey. I just was not sure what to wr...

Week 10: Reflection

Do you feel like your methods ar e constructed solidly?   I think that for my research goal which is to gage the attitudes of as many teachers about technology they have/have had access to and making them aware of the features works. The ability to get a good number of teachers within my region and who cater to a goo number of teachers that serve the same type of student populations is a factor that give me some statistical significance especially when evaluating the research to see how it might apply to other like districts.   What was missing from your slides according to your peers?   The sample size was no definite  yet. I actually would  have to see how many contacts I have within other districts within Region one that would  be willing to share the survey with their middle school teachers. I also do not have a timeline exact yet. I do want to complete it in the second semester of the next school year...

Week 9: Refelction

There are three parts to the reflection:   Start by reflecting on how you feel about where you are on literature review and how you felt about your peer’s feedback after the presentation.   I feel that if maybe the current research I have provided focuses to much on the role of librarian and not enough on the research that established my new investigation. I see the connection of these two but I can also step back and see the other might not see how the librarian role is such a big part of the literature review when the research is about teachers and technology more effective technology integration. For me it is clear that the information gathered is important to the duties of the librarian and the places they have to adjust their work to assist their teachers but the way librarians service their campus can vary from district to district and some locations that have no librarian and onl...

Week 8: Reflection

Reflect on how you feel about your proposed methods, based on the feedback on your portfolio from the class. I had thought that I might try to do a mixed methods approach to include surveys, interviews and observations of librarians, administrators and teachers. The basic problem that my research is trying to focus on is the ability for  librarians to expose teachers to the different opportunities of resources that are already in place but not used to their full extent. The thought is to expose teachers all these different opportunities for the core/tested subjects including math, reading, science, and social studies in the middle grades. With these approaches to the technology students can showcase what they have learned in different ways. This is important because since librarians have become the on campus technology go-to-people this would help them access where professional devel...

Week 7: Reflection

If you were in Texas last week for the blizzard, how were you impacted? Given that emergencies like this are likely to occur while you work on your dissertation (e.g., COVID and blizzard in a year, parents become ill, you become ill), do you have a plan for how to get past it? Are you OK if you cannot meet your current planned timeline and  have to  graduate a semester or two late? Consider the unexpected this week, because we all face things during a dissertation that are challenging. Reflect on where you are in the process. What do you have done, what do you have left to do, and what are you struggling with right now, if anything? My family was impacted with no electricity from Monday morning 5am is when we noticed and a pipe burst as a fun surprise later that week. Things were restored to somewhat normal on Friday afternoon, and we went back to campus on the following Monday to assess the damage and students came back Tuesday. My parents a...

Week 5: Reflection

Write up a reflection about what you learned from writing and sharing your methods, as well as what you would like to learn going forward to help with your work. This was the same prompt as week 4 and since then I have completed some research starting to outline the current role of the librarian and what that entails in regard to educational technology within schools. Now that I have set that ground work I can continue with my topic and whether that hypothesis proves to be something that can be researched and accepted or rejected with the analyzation of results and what conclusion might be drawn from the methods used to research. I would like to collect empirical evidence with a mixed methods approach in the form of surveys, observations, and/or interviews with key member on campus. These people would include librarians, teachers, an administrators within a campus. So for my research design I would be more interested in qualitative data because I think this phenomenon I am studying to ...
